SAFE was started by a team of people who lose sleep at night because they know there are individuals being sexually exploited in their own community. That grew into a fantastic group of partners that convene regularly to learn, collaborate, and effect change in the fight against human trafficking. We are grateful to everyone who helped SAFE come to life, and to the partners for giving their time, expertise, and resources to this effort.

SAFE is made up of an Executive Committee that provides accountability and oversight for the funds that are generously given to combat trafficking in the Tampa Bay area. The Executive Committee also reviews grant proposals and makes the final decision about which SAFE partner will be awarded funding for each project.

Meet the Chair of the Executive Committee - Tricia Collins

Tricia Collins is a licensed clinical social worker and the vice president of philanthropy and giver services at TrustBridge Global Foundation, a Donor Advised Fund platform foundation based in Switzerland. Previously, she was the director of operations for NCF Tampa Bay, a mental health practitioner, and the clinical coordinator for social work at Johns Hopkins All Children’s.

Tricia is currently on the board of trustees of 100 Shares Tampa Bay. Tricia has been active in community engagement as a Guardian ad Litem and child dependency advocate and an outreach volunteer for anti-human trafficking organizations. She has led various international mission trips for groups wanting to see more of God’s work in the world.

Tricia holds Le Grand Diplôme from Le Cordon Bleu, an undergraduate degree in interdisciplinary social sciences from the University of South Florida, and a master’s degree in social work from the University of Southern California, where she was named a Dean’s Scholar.

Meet the Director of the SAFE in Tampa Bay - Kristen Bracy

Kristen Bracy serves as the Director of the SAFE Alliance in Tampa Bay. She is the Founder and CEO of I Rise FL, inc. a local nonprofit and SAFE Alliance partner that supports survivors of violence and exploitation through creating supportive partnerships and a pathway to financial independence and upward mobility. Prior to relocating back to Florida in 2019, Kristen worked as the Associate Director of the Office of Sex Trafficking Intervention Research (STIR) at Arizona State University in the School of Social Work.

Kristen is a trauma-focused clinical social worker and an adjunct faculty member for the online Masters of Social Work Program at Fordham University. Kristen has provided weekly clinical intervention groups for victims and survivors of sex trafficking, co-directed bi-annual drop-in centers for prostituted or sex trafficked persons, has co-authored reports and peer-reviewed publications on sex and labor trafficking research, and has presented at local, national, and international conferences on intervention strategies for sex and labor trafficked youth and adults. Kristen has a Master's degree in Social Justice and Human Rights and a Master's degree in Social Work. She serves on the Pasco County Commission on Human Trafficking and is a member of the Global Association of Human Trafficking Scholars (GAHTS).
